keep your eyes open

I haven't done shit here since October last year and probably won't be much more frequent than that for a while. I'm not very good with keeping up on shit like this. You may find that the eyemachine blog is updated way more often and there's little to tell here that they won't tell you there.

I've been busy in the "real" world. This shit never stops and you know it. Some very cool and exciting shit has been going on and connections are being made. Our once tiny operation has grown into a less tiny one. Shit is cool and none of it would be possible without Brain and their awesome house and the awesome things that go on there ("say...maybe we'll make a movie about the brain house"). I'll take this  opportunity to remind of the other places we do shit. Always keep an eye on The Rake's End where you can always expect some various varieties of entertainment and some of us and our friends making noises. Lot of shows going on at Cincy by the Slice downtown. I have not yet been but it's apparently a kind of pizzeria venue so pretty much doesn't get better than that. Look this place up. You can't go wrong with pizza. Good ol' Tone House Music in Northside for all you gearheads. Buy an amplifier. Buy a guitar. Play a show. All in the same place. It rules.  Check on all these places from time to time to see what SA might be up to. This is pretty hopeful and might not happen for a good while but new spaces are being looked into and sometime in the future we may have a new base of operation for house shows and shit.

As far as new shit happening there's not a lot I can tell you. Or will. Pick one. I'll say this much.

There will be more new stuff from Renegade Snake Charmers real soon.
I hope to start work on shooting for a nice little film about us and the Brain House and such soon soon.
There might be a super special reunion of an old favorite for a one-off show soon. I won't say who yet but stock up on hallucinogens and ear plugs.
We may be going into some new territories with the new shit and potentially new locations around cincity soon but definitely eventually.
I hope to throw together a fund raiser thing or something. We need new shit. You need new shit. Maybe we can work something out and make an event out of it.

That's all for now. Stay true folks. I may not be blogging...but I'm still watching.

Love you,

Holy shit it's October!

October is my favorite month.

We hope to have some sort of Halloween party show on the 27th. Details are uncertain. We don't have a place to hold this event at this time. Working on it.

Smile Bomb started recording. We do not have specific plans for these recordings as of yet but we're going to try to record all of the songs and decide where they belong. Smile Bomb would like to once again apologize to all of our dedicated true believers for the cancellation of the show at the Brain House on the 6th. We were really looking forward to it. Now dry your eyes and get over it.

We have been scheming devious schemes involving live performances at places that may or may not be 100% legal to play at. If you will risk your safety and encounters with the faithful protectors of the Porkopolis A.K.A. the Cincinnati police department, you may be tipped off as to where to be and when. I will not be posting flyers around town or anything for these "Guerilla-style" events. You'll just have to be informed days prior to these things with my personal trust that you aren't some kind of non-believer-narc-type. Narcs will be apprehended and destroyed by the SA secret Narc Murder Squad.

I will be establishing a non-internet network of true believers in our various causes as well as a more efficient task force for helping out with the promotion and execution of shows. If you have contributions to make to our efforts contact me.

This concludes our monthly transmission. Make use of your electric brain projection device (or CPU) and keep yourself informed. Revolution is nigh. Stay faithful, true believers.

Shop as usual. Avoid panic buying.

news august/septemberish

I assure you the absence of recent posts on this page is due to the enormous bounds we've been making, most of which take up too much time so I haven't been posting shit. Sorry.

Anywhat, sa has been working up a newsletter type thing called the "corresponder" which should be getting out by september. It will be a bit like this here blog thing cept it ain't got none a dem dere dowload links. Full of juicy goodness and poetry and art and some hype shit and some other dope shit you will be forced to enjoy.

Been playing a lot of shows lately but I believe it is now time for Smile Bomb to get some recordings efforts in the works. We may have some new shit to post up here soon. Hopefully get my hands on some other new stuff to post while I'm at it.

Trying to devise some scheme to make some dollars so we can possibly provide you with some cool t-shirts before it gets cold outside as well as some other tight swag in order to turn as many of you into walking billboards as possible.

That's all I got for now. Upgrades are coming. Patience momo. Patience.

Updates and business May/June 2012

Keeping on that up and up shit.

Lots going on in the SA world today. Shows, comps, new tape releases, and more plans for the future of the SA/EM crew.

...

First let's talk about these shows. The show at Tone House Music on the 18th went considerably well and Letdown and Brain will be playing there again on July 13th hopefully with more performances.

Before that Brain will be playing at Casablanca Vintage (northside) with some bands form out of town on June 15th. There's a chance (fingers crossed) Letdown might get to play as well.

June 22nd EM will be holding a Basement show at the Brain house (2841 Marshall ave. Cincinnati oh). As it stands the bill is Brain, Letdown, and Hardon Collider. We will have mass tapes and CDs available for purchase and some for free. Be there.

Then the very next day (June 23rd if you haven't been paying attention) we will return to the legendary Skatopia for the Bowl Bash 2012 event. A massive two day party with about 30 bands, including our very own Smile Bomb. If you went to the April fools work party back in march you won't want to miss this one. 34961 Hutton Rd. Rutland, OH 45775

Eye Machine's Captain Missouri has been hard at work organizing a couple of compilations. The first is called "Science" which features noise tracks and sound collages by Brain, Hat Goblin, MBD and Smile Bomb. I think all that's left is pressing copies and distributing it.

Next is the CopyWrong Number One compilation which features tracks comprised of illegal and uncredited use of copyrighted materials. I know. We bad.
We still need submissions to this comp so if you have something to contribute hit up the Captain. Here's how to do that.

Smile Bomb has been working despite no longer having a drummer. We have two releases in the works. The first is a new noise tape much like the previous "Eddie Money Elephant Lawyer". This is still a work in progress but we have submitted a track to the "Science" compilation. The second is a complete new EP entitled "Two Shakes" which features 6 new original tracks. It will soon be posted on the blog for free download and later a physical CD copy will be made available to your eager ears (also for free). You can hear three of those tracks right now, right here.

SA and EM would also like to welcome J.F. Sebastian to our ranks. This is some sweet new sound swag from our boy Nick Collins. He has a complete CD available if you hit us up. We will send you one.

That's all for now. Check back soon because I'm setting up a lot of links for downloads and streaming music from these amazing artists and working on more shows. Don't miss out.

Connection Cassette compilation project.

This is really cool and I do hope to contribute some SA artists to this compilation . Check it out on facebook. There's a lot of related stuff and other really cool shit to check out here too. I will be adding these contacts to the friends section for future reference.

The Letdown and Brain at Tone House Music, May 18th

Check this place out. It just opened up on Hamilton ave. in Northside. It's a music shop AND a venue for live music. What more do you need to hear? You already know this place is cool as fuck. The Letdown a nd Brain are scheduled to play on May 18th. I'll get you a flyer when we make them.

You may notice slight changes

I've done a bit of spring cleaning here at the SAB(log) and moved a lot of things to our pages which can be seen to your right--->. For downloads go to steal. For video go to video. For links to other shit go to friends. Etc. Etc. Etc.

I'll be working more on getting this all organized throughout the month so check back.

The rolling of the ball

January was an almost completely shitty month. February has finally started to look a little better. A lots happened but we're all getting back to work, except Brain who hasn't really stopped working what with the new line-up.

Here's what's happening

There will be a show at the Brain House (2841 Marshall Ave.) in mid March. I'll give you the specifics when I get them. The bill is to be (the new) Brain, The Letdown, and Fenrir. Maybe more.

Some new recordings are in the works. Expect new things from Limp Dick Mass, The Letdown, Blue Feet and Brain sometime in the next few weeks or months. I also hope to get my hands on the new Fenrir whenever that happens.

I think eventually I'll put some new videos on the youtube. We got the whole New Years show recorded as well as some other random videos worth posting. Some videos from the party were especially amusing. I'll need to find out what I'll need to do to get these videos up but once I do they'll be up.

That's about all we got going right now. Not much but more than we have done lately so I'm optimistic.
